Barstow, Calif. — Barstow Community Hospital will host a reception on April 11 in support of Tommy Taylor and J.D. Norton as they stop in Barstow during their ride across America to raise awareness about Sarcoidosis and organ donation. Starting today, Tommy and his friend, J.D. Norton, will depart from Santa Monica on their way to Boston, which is expected to take about three months.

In 2021, Tommy Taylor, a former Barstow businessman (Tommy T’s Plumbing), lost his wife, Thoko, to the autoimmune disease Sarcoidosis. Thoko was a beloved nurse at BCH. Mr. Norton is riding the bike to raise awareness of his grandson’s need for a new kidney.

On Tuesday, April 11, the two will ride into Barstow as they complete the first leg of their journey from Santa Monica. Everyone is invited to a welcome reception for Tommy Taylor and J.D. Norton at which you will hear from them about their causes and to celebrate Thoko’s time at BCH. Coffee and pastries will be served at the reception being held outside the front entrance of Barstow Community Hospital on Tuesday, at 10 a.m.
